Pros: Very Clean compact design. Display is very easy to read from a distance of 3 feet at an angle of ~60° from straight on. Has eight well spaced outlets on the back with four being battery backed and all surge protected. 6ft. cord with right angle flat plug. Cons: Software is intrusive and clumsy. The item was drop shipped from the supplier (no outer packaging other than that of the manufacturer. Weighs in at 16LBS. Package took a beating in transit. Overall Review: Not a bad little UPS for the price. I have been a loyal cutomer of APC for several years, but I’m very impressed with TrippLite’s quality and customer support (on other purchasing adventures).

Pros: Output is level and transfers over with no spikes/drops.
Windows 7 workstation (500W PSU) detected it right away as a plugged in battery and, during a recent outage, it handled the load very well. In addition, I had 2 monitors + low-power desktop (250W PSU) plugged in as well.
Under little load, I was able to work for another 15 minutes until shutting down.
Surge suppressor saved my phone when the power did come back. Cons: The one con (which, is actually a feature) is that when it does switch to battery power, there’s a pretty annoying beep. Overall Review: Just keep the “mute” button (which doubles as “enter” to cycle through the screens) pressed until it beeps once and a line should appear across the speaker icon on the screen.
If you leave it as-is, it will keep beeping until you shut close your system and power off the UPS so that’s all the more incentive to be quick after power loss.
Windows should detect it (yes, I had to explain to someone that a computer doesn’t automagically know it’s plugged into a UPS without connecting the USB) as just a plugged in battery and your workstation/desktop/server should behave the same as a laptop running on a battery.
Tripp Lite releases something called “PowerAlert” Power Management Software (Google it) that allows you to mange some other things, but it uses Java. This was a security no-no for us so no “power” features for me, I guess.

Energy efficient. Cons: These aren’t really cons, but:
Not rack mountable.

Only 900W Overall Review: I needed to buy replacement batteries for my old APC SMART UPS 2200, but the batteries ended up costing $250 each. I purchased this thing instead for almost half the cost of those replacement batteries. Downside is that I went from 1900W to 900W, but it seems to be fine. I have one server, 3 24 port switches, a monitor, a router, and a modem on this and it shows that it’s at just about 1/4 load. The LCD screen in the front is much more convenient versus just having some indicator lights. This thing is A LOT smaller than I had expected and much much smaller than my old UPS. It is very quiet, in my opinion, but then again it’s housed in a server closet so I can’t really tell if its loud or not because of all the buzzing that is already in there. Definitely can’t hear this over that, though. There are only 5 battery protected outlets. I wish there were more. The other 5 are only surge protected. It is not rack mountable, but I already knew that and wasn’t really looking for that anyway. It’s just incredible how small this thing is. Also not that heavy, compared to other UPS’s.

Pros: Appears to handle loads well. Have yet to see “momentary” outages disrupt devices connected to the unit. Output percentage is interesting to see when used for A/V equipment. Cons: Blue LCD display is excessively bright. If you are going to use this in any location where you don’t want a “homing beacon” – you’ll need to do something to reduce the display’s output. Would like to see the display dim/turn off unless there is something that requires attention. Overall Review: Have not experienced what previous posters commented on. Purchased two units (at the same time) and have not had any issue with either unit (except display intensity). Perhaps “newer” version?

Pros: It works! I am a 3D animator running a pretty hefty system, and I live in an area that has a lot of power outages due to thunder storms. I have been able to safely shut off my system a few times now and save projects a few times now. Definitely a good buy. Cons: It’s a little big…

Pros: We have purchased 3 of these for use with individual servers and workstations, the first over a year ago. All are solid with no major issues; a good value.
The LCD display is great. I use the load percentages to calculate up-time in power outage.
Our office has frequent spikes, surges, sags, and blinks. The UPS’s have done what they were supposed to. We have had no power issues since installing.
The run time is very good. They have outperformed their ratings. Cons: We only tried the software with the first unit a year ago, but it was totally useless when we did. The UPS worked great stand-alone. But when we attached it to the computer for automatic shut-down and alerts on power outage, it would interrupt power to all attached units every time it did self-tests, defeating the purpose of a UPS! Annoying, but not worth losing an egg. Overall Review: The 650 joule surge suppression is good but not stellar. It is in line with comparable UPS’s from other manufacturers. I couple the installation with a good quality surge suppressor.

Ability to keep the UPS Alarm Muted all the time Cons: Luckily you really do not need the software, just a USB connection and manage it through Windows Power Options.
The Windows PowerAlert software is complete garbage. It does not recognize the PC every few days, requiring a complete Shutdown of the UPS. Even when it does recognize the PC, the logs show that the batteries are at 0% every time the PC wakes from Sleep, Then reports back at 100%.
Another really annoying issue is the UPS does not detect/report any Load below 77 Watts or 8% Load. So if you are only drawing 75 watts it shows 0.0 Watts @ 0%. How can the UPS report accurate battery Run-times below 77 Watts? Overall Review: Overall I really like the UPS itself, I just wish it had more reliable software reporting tools and Management.

Pros: I like the voltage readout and the load and battery life graphs. Cons: Please see other comments, below. Overall Review: I own several of these Smart-series UPSes and I’ve been very happy with them. However, with this last order, I had a bit of an odyssey. The unit I received worked fine, but it made a noticeable buzzing sound when on line power. I could forgive this if the UPS was for a server room or industrial environment, but, I’m sorry, I couldn’t tolerate this in a home office. But everything worked out OK: I RMAed the buzzing UPS and NewEgg sent me a prepaid label to send the UPS back. I ordered an identical UPS and the new UPS is silent. The only inconvenience I suffered was putting up with the buzzing for a few days and dropping off the bad UPS at Walgreens. I award the product five eggs because NewEgg sorted me out promptly, and the new UPS works fine.
