Pros: Straightforward rack install. Took about an hour with the optional brackets (you need those; they are not optional). First time using Synology. It is even better than I expected. The machine is largely quiet (see cons).
I got Docker working relatively quickly and was able to host containers that I could easily access from another machine w/o issue. Cons: The machine sometimes has relatively short periods of fan squeal. It’s not often, but it does happen, I think mostly due to plex transcoding. It mostly doesn’t do this, just sometimes. I would suggest looking for a different product if the installation location will be sensitive to noise.
I am new to Synology but not to Linux. I had a bit of a learning curve learning the DSM-specific commands, like synoservice instead of service. Nothing big, but your muscle memory won’t fully apply. Overall Review: Very happy with the purchase and the product.

Cons: Is DOA. It took 10+ days to get here. I was out of town. I finally get back, try to set it up, & it is DOA. Just at the 30 d return period, so Newegg Overall Review: My experience with Synology makes me expect the device is good – if it will work.
