Pros: Two Seagate Ironwolf Pro 22TB.
Raid 1 in Asustor AS6704T NAS.
Glad to have the redundancy. Overall Review: Recommended.

Pros: – I’ll let you know once I get the replacement drive Cons: – Installed in my NAS, ran it through initial stress test, added it to the disk pool, and it died in less than 30 days.
– Unfortunately, I missed the NE return window and now having to go through SG which take a very long time, not to mention the fairly confusing RMA system. Overall Review: – I bought the drive because of the very high reviews and no negative reviews, I guess I just had to get that one drive.
– Been in IT for over 25 years, so I know it happens, just sucks that I have to deal with it now.

Pros: Received drive where it was in a frame in center of box which was in a semi secure Newegg box. Plugged in drive into old mediasonic probox that was rated for 8tb drives. Worked fine. Ubuntu says you have to format that 16tb size as GPT and that worked fine. Over 14tb usable space. Temp of drive is similar to my 4 and 8tb WD red drives and is much cooler than the 10tb WD Plus drive. Speed was high at around 200MB transfer rates. Noise was slightly higher than the 4tb WD drives, but still low. Drive is new, not used, not recertified. Manufacture date is March 2023 which is when the warranty starts, so not very long ago. Cons: None so far. Overall Review: Moved about 6tb of data and that was smooth. I believe 2 critical things are impacting people. One is quality of shipment causing child mortality. In my case, drive came in without any issue. Next is either reselling a used drive or selling an old drive that significantly reduces the warranty. In my case neither happened. Extreme price reduction during Black Friday made the 16tb pro version cheaper than the sale price of the non pro version, so it was time to try it.

Pros: They were packaged really well. All good in that regard. Cons: One of the hard disks does not work. I was moving houses and was putting off building the NAS I bought it for until recently. Hard disk is detected in Windows and Linux, but not the BIOS. Linux detects it but only the serial number of the device is shown. Power and temperature do not show. Cannot use it. Past the return or replacement date. Overall Review: I’ve read that this hard disk is a hit or miss, but I thought it would be different when ordered from Newegg.

Pros: Seem to pass initial test. Cons: None as of yet, but not hopeful. Overall Review: Very misleading product description. Drive in not a retail drive, but a OEM one. Although it appears to be a new drive, it came loose in a box that was not padded with anything. Time will tell if there was any damage from shipping. Newegg should have better packaging practices in place, and more detailed descriptions as to if it’s and OEM or Retail drive.

Overall Review: After 5 months the drive has failed no way to exchange or warranty

Pros: High capacity, high speed Cons: IMPORTANT: this is an enterprise drive, and requires a SATA 3.3 power cable (shown in the photo), NOT a regular desktop SATA cable. The pinouts are different (shown in the screenshot of its datasheet) and are not compatible with each other. This drive will NOT work with regular desktop SATA cable.
For anyone having issues with getting the drive to show up in Windows desktops, this is likely the problem. Check the power cable used for this drive. Overall Review: Great drive, but it should be labeled CLEARLY that this is an enterprise hard drive, and requires a SATA 3.3 cable. Right now this information is not disclosed on the product page, which should be fixed ASAP. Regular SATA power cable does NOT work with this drive, and will cause your OS to lag out and not respond.

Pros: Relatively fast for such a large drive. Took 16 hours to format, however. Cons: Lasted 1 week and no longer powers on. Refunding, I’m sure newegg will find some way to try and deny the refund. Overall Review: Hard drives are such low quality nowadays.
