Pros: These are $49 compared to other rails. Cons: These are $49. There’s a reason they’re $49. These are not as strong as the higher end rails, they are flimsy, they bend, it’s very easy to not get them into the track. (One obviously came that was used and already bent when it arrived). Overall Review: If you’re looking for a low cost rail and you don’t plan on having to access your server often, get them, but I don’t even trust them. I kept them, didn’t return them, but only because I know the only time I’ll be accessing these servers is when they’ve died.

Overall Review: They serve their purpose. I can pull my case in and out. My minor complaints are:
The rails just barely clear the case – I have to wiggle it to get out out
The attach points aren’t the easiest to install (does not use bolts clipped to the rack)
The directions are not the best in the world
As I said, minor issue. I got them working.

Pros: Slides smoothly, and fits rosewill cases well (although Rosewill needs to lower the rail mounting holes on their cases just a little and not dead center). Cons: With Rosewill 2U and 4U cases and these rails, servers sit ~1/3 U too high. But that is a case issue and not rail issue.
The square washers they provide are wider than they need to be and extend beyond the rack post inside edge, blocking the rails from sliding out. Had to grind one side of the square washers down to not interfere with slides. Overall Review: Worth the money, but be prepared to need to find replacement washers or grind the default ones down to fit.

Pros: they are technically rails Cons: everything else? Overall Review: This is an absolutely unhinged design for rails. This is the kind of kit you get for someone as a joke to watch them struggle behind a hidden camera.
They are very short, fitting a 33.5″ rack is a technicality, not a practicality. In reality anything longer than ~20-25″ and it won’t pull out far enough to actually engage the detach mechanism.
The mounting slide finishes flush with the rail’s front, so it is actually impossible to mount something that can entirely pull out without detaching, which you won’t want to do, I’ll get to that in a minute.
That is of course, assuming you can even get whatever is attached out that far, which you won’t be able to, because the mounting plates are wider than the rail, and interfere with the sliding mechanism every time you try and pull it out.
That is of course, if it even fits in your rack vertically, because if you’re like me and bought the bundled 4U RSV-L4500U, the mounting holes are just randomly in the center of the chassis, so there is no way to mount it evenly within U’s. The rails offer no adjustment vertically to get them to not randomly take up an extra 1/3U
The mount half of the rails are incapable of locking out, so you can’t install this as a single person unless you jam a screwdriver in each rail to give you something to push against installing a server, which works fine except the rails are slathered in grease which gets everywhere, and is conveniently on both sides of your server chassis, which is exactly where you have to hold it to install it because the rails are too short to hold anything from the front and back like you would w/ dell ready rails.
Also they’re not eligible for refunds, so after you discover all of this, your only recourse is to buy something else with different money, because newegg has that money and isn’t giving it back.
Other than that they seem fine.

Overall Review: This is so far from Dell’s sliding rails, but it does the job good.

  6. Erik P.

Pros: You can eventually get it to work… sort of. Cons: Interferes with the handles on a Rosewell 4U chassis (RSV-L4000U), preventing it from sliding all the way into the rack. The only solutions are to remove the handles and front bezel from the chassis, or mod the handle mount. Modding the offending rail mounting ears would likely make it too weak to support the load.
Instructions are almost impossible to interpret. No instructions at all for sizing the rails for your cabinet depth… you’ll have to puzzle through this on your own. Overall Review: If I’d known the combination of Rosewell case + rail kit would be that hard to assemble and install I would have paid more for a better solution (eg 45Homelabs). Now that I have this kit working (my case has no handles or front bezel now, which I’m not happy about) I’ll probably keep it. I won’t be looking at Rosewill again any time soon.
