  1. Dmitriy M.

    Pros: Aluminum frame, aluminum latch.
Cheap. Cons: Of the two units I got, one had 4 out of 8 screw holes that were too small. I had to force the screw in there to open up it up, but now the threading is impacted and the screw rotates freely. Poor fabrication consistency on the aluminum threads! These 4 holes are all on one side, the other side is fine.
Also as other reviewers noted, the height is lower than the height of a standard 5.25 bay, so there are 4mm gaps above and below each unit. If you don’t have positive pressure airflow in your case, get ready for tons of dust to enter your case through these huge gaps.
Includes plastic parts in the latch mechanism and also outer front frame, I am concerned about longevity.

Pros: This is the second one I have bought. I really like these. They work well, easy to remove/insert. No problems with them at all. I use them as part of RAID set so if I get a failing drive, I can just remove it quickly and install a new drive. For those who are into cosmetics, these look very nice from the outside. They easily slide into 5.25″ drive space. Comes with keys (I never use), screws and SATA cable. I did not use enclosed SATA cable as I had already prepopulated my mother boards 6 SATA connectors with SATA cables and used them instead. Cons: None so far. Overall Review: So far, I recommend them highly!

  3. Adam B.

Pros: Nice design. Easy install. Feels solid. Cons: Prior to purchasing I had the drive in an open USB drive reader where the drive is inserted vertically and is left exposed and was sitting on top of the PC. I never noticed much drive noise when reading or writing to the drive. Now with it in the cage I hear excessive noise coming from the PC when writing to the drive. I’m not sure if it’s do to a loose fit of the drive or if it’s just echoing in the case.

  4. Ronald K.

Pros: Easy to install. Have one connected to extreme 4 mobo and hot swapping works great. Love it. It makes backup of tv recordings supper fast and convenient with my JBODs. Cons: None. When I hot swap the next drive is recognized after a few minute, just have to have patience. Overall Review: I was waiting for another deal and NE came though. Just ordered another, a black one to go with the silver one I bought from NE last November. NE rocks.

  5. James M.

    Pros: Great Looking.
    Good Fitment.
Does what it claims. Cons: PC Board has weak point, prone to breakage. Overall Review: I now have 14 of these in my Server. They work and look great. One caution… make sure you have a drive (any drive) in the caddy BEFORE you hook up the SATA Power attachment on the rear. If you have a tight fitting SATA Power connector and you push too hard, the PC Board will “snap” where it passes power over to the fan switch and LED connection. If you have a drive in the caddy to support this tiny board while plugging it in, the board can sustain the pressure necessary to attach the SATA Power cable. Once you have the SATA connectors on… there is never any problem inserting or removing drives. Just do this when first connecting the rear of the cage. I broke two of them before I realized what I had done. (So technically, I now have 16 of these…. 2 of them to remind me to use a softer touch – Ugh).

  6. RICHARD W.

Pros: The overall quality is outstanding.
If you want an easy mount/dismount of a hard drive, this is one of the best.
Price sometimes very low. Cons: Looking at the little circuit board, I see the problem noted by James M. With care, it is manageable. Overall Review: With most of us moving on to SSDs and beyond, these may soon be dinosaurs for dinosaur hard drives.
It has a two-pin connector on the back for a fan.
Finding a fan for this may be challenging.
Hard drives last longer if not hot to the touch.

  7. Scott H.

Pros: Easy to install and use.
Makes those useless tower drive bays really useful again!
They look sharp Cons: Absolutely none Overall Review: I have a couple of tower computers with a bunch of useless 5.25 drive bays. What am I going to do, install more DVD-ROM drives? I think not. One of my machines has about 20TB now and I’ve run out of 3.5 inch slots to put drives. Too bad I can’t use all those unused 5.25 inch slots. But wait! Here’s this gizmo that not only allows me to use those slots, but it lets me SWAP drives so I can separate large projects. Awesome! I bought one, installed it, LOVE it and bought 3 more! I may never have to open a tower case again since I now can just pull a lever to pop out a 6TB hard drive and insert another like they are DVDs or something. If you use a RAID array, these are a no-brainer, but I think I’m going to use them for ALL of my drives. Oh, and they look cool, too, way cooler than that black screen mesh that hides your hard drives now. Highly recommended!

  8. Anonymous

    Pros: Simple
Reasonably made Cons: Rear plastic could be a little more stiff. Overall Review: Be careful not to bend back plastic when installing the cables. It would be a good idea to have a drive installed while connecting rear cables.
