    Pros: 8 channel memory support
    fast without overclocking
unlocked (overclockable) for those who want to Cons: price keeps it out of reach for many
easy to get thermal compound onto the sides (should be a lip/edge)
packaging not the easiest to re-load the cpu into if pulled back out Overall Review: Originally I wanted one model lower, the w7-3455 but it is sold as “tray” not retail box, so hard to get at a reasonable price. I bought this model for the same price through Newegg. It has been no problem, including mounting it to a cooler and board, in fact the mounting is probably easier than with pinned cpus.
I’ve only had the cpu in use for about a week, but I’ve done a fair bit of testing with it, mostly compiling vs day to day use for applications/services. Core/thread scaling performs very well under Linux. Parallelized code does great on it and single core performance is better than expected. Kernels build in 1 min 20 seconds and gcc which has many serial parts of building builds in 20 minutes or few minutes more with LTO and GPO enabled. Temperatures have remained good using a Nocturna NH-U14S DX-4677. I’ve not used the water-cooling also purchased to compare against, but cores haven’t reached above the low 80s even with longer builds and have mostly stayed in the 70s range when pushed and the air cooling has remained quiet just not silent.
Not a drawback or negative mark against the processor, but options for LGA4677 cpus are few and are limited to EATX sizes meaning fewer and larger case/chassis options for those wanting to use it as workstation tower vs rack mounting them. Selection of water-cooling blocks or cpu fans is limited too.
