Pros: Very well constructed. Cons: Documentation is impossible to find. Nowhere does this product description state compatibility of PSU and front panel connectors. Finding parts to match is a chore. supermicro.com is not designed to help find the info. Overall Review: Nice product, sub-standard technical resources.

Pros: – 1U so small
– 80+ GOLD powersupply
– Cost savings over comparable motherboard/server from SM.
– Its supermicro so everything just fits
– Good quality metal no flex Cons: – No manual included
– You MUST know which MB work with this server case.
– You must do your research at Supermicro and does take some time before things get easy. Overall Review: I buy a lot of supermicro and their products are reliable and well made, and less expensive than HP/Dell/Cisco. If you are building a system you need to pay attention to make sure all the pieces fit. The manual can be found here:

Pros: o 1U that is no larger than a switch
o 200W Gold PSU
o Price
o Fits ITX Server board Cons: o Missing a manual. However, It’s not too much of a pain to obtain the PDF version of the manual from Supermicro’s web site.
o Does not include the drive bays for 2.5″ drives. you will have to spend the $8 + Shipping to order Item#: N82E16811994023. That was strike 1.
o No I/O plate for Supermicro MBD-X7SPA-HF-O Mini ITX Server Motherboard, but couldn’t bundle the 6 possiable I/O shields? Strike 2!
o Need to order Item#: N82E16816101390 PCI-E x8 Slot to PCI-E Slot Riser Card which is $15. Strike 3!!! Overall Review: This case is used to house Item#: N82E16813182234 which is the Supermicro MBD-X7SPA-HF-O Mini ITX Server Motherboard and 1 3.5 SATA and 1 2.5 SDD SATA ro make 1 pfSense set up. I understand that to add the $15 riser card and 2 $8 HDD trays would add and additional cost to the price tag, but it would save on shipping and inconvenience.
As far as the whole I/O shield issue, that is simply a vendor blunder.
It would have been nice if Newegg would tell me what’s in the box and what’s not included rather than just copy and paste from the mfg site. seems like Newegg service is deteriorating. Seems that expanding beyond computing parts and going with the amaz-on business model, I have been noticing a lot change for the worse.

Pros: Good construction Cons: Doesn’t come with bracket for hard drives, Overall Review: Power supply is quiet, but has a kind of high pitched growl. In a rack, this shouldn’t make a difference.

Pros: Perfect case for a clean pfSense build using one of the newer 4 or 8 core Atom mainboards from Supermicro, if you don’t need the front-facing I/O design of the CSE-505-203B. Case is well laid out, with many options for adding accessories. Cons: Supermicro site can be a bit difficult to navigate and identify proper parts and accessories. Overall Review: Previous commenter was incorrect. The correct case for the MBD-X7SPA-HF-O mainboard is the CSE-502L-200B not the CSE-504-203B being reviewed here. The correct mainboard(s) for this are the newer Supermicro Atom mainboards featuring the Rangeley series of processors. (C2550, C2558, C2750, C2758). I’ve personally used it in several builds featuring the MBD-A1SRi-2758F-O.
