Pros: 2 DIMM.
Ram cooler.
GPU layout for the X16 slot is centered in the motherboard, not towards the top or the bottom.
Quality. Cons: Price.
Software issues with Asus.
Random glitches with RGB.
Random audio, glitches and interference.
Not being able to achieve better ram timings than the hero.
[As of now] Overall Review: One of my favorite features of the motherboard is the RAM cooling solution and the dual-slot DIMM configuration. I currently own both the X870E Hero and the X870E Apex, and I find myself a bit puzzled. At the time of writing, the QVL (Qualified Vendor List) for memory is identical for both boards. Ive tested a dozen RAM kits across them, and regardless of whether I enable XMP or EXPO, the behavior and stability are identical on both, even though the Apex features only two DIMM slots.
Considering the Apex is marketed as a memory overclocking motherboard, its surprising that its performance mirrors the Hero, which has four DIMM slots. CPU overclocking performance is also essentially the same between the two. So far, the only noticeable differences between the boards are the additional features. In theory, the dual-DIMM layout on the Apex should enable higher memory overclocks due to reduced signal interference, yet in practice, this advantage doesnt seem to materialize.

Pros: Exceptional overclocking and memory timings. 9950x3d can clock to 5.9 GHz stable. Makes things smooth as butter. Having all the options to tune so many things means as time goes on we can hone in on the highest fps, lowest latency possible. Cons: I wouldnt say any cons but lots to learn to tune my system with extreme depth. There is a lot I do need to learn but that AI assistant helps a lot. Overall Review: I thought there were problems with the OC on the board. Turns out its just because the Nvidia drivers are so broken for the 5080 right now. I think they are barely now adding support for the GDDR7 and the PCIE gen 5 speeds for games. So fps in gaming are going way up but crashing. Have to wait for nvidia to get it together 6 months after launch. Its so bad not one driver works for overwatch, marvel rivals and valorant at the same time. Has nothing to do with x870e apex. Just Nvidias drivers

Pros: Full ATX size with 1DPC layout
ASUS has the best bios interface compared to others
9950X3D able to achieve 5.9 GHZ stable and 8000 speeds and semi-tight timings, matching my previous intel setup Cons: No cons so far Overall Review: After years of anticipation and failure to get the X670 gene, I was excited when ASUS announced this motherboard. My previous setup was a EVGA Z690 DARK-K|NGP|N with an Intel i9 13900K, which had become problematic due to waning support and no official compatibility for the 14900KS.
Currently running this ASUS board with my existing Hynix memory that I used with my previous intel setup, maintaining similar memory bandwidth throughput but have a slight latency increase from 60 ns to 67.5 ns on average. CPU clocked at 5.9 GHZ and definitely feels faster with the v-cache. Overall, great solid board!

Pros: Good overclocking headroom, AI OC feature works well once BIOS updated Cons: Drives installed in PCIE_X4 and DIMM.2_1 are intermittently detected, happens with multiple different drives installed in these slots, as well as other X4 cards installed in PCIE_X4. Although PCIE_X4 is open ended, installing a longer card is prevented by the heatsink behind it. If you use an enterprise U.2/3 drive on the primary M.2 slot, the RAM fan cannot be installed due to the heatsink being required for the RAM fan installationthe extreme variant gives us the port instead but even then we dont get it connected to the CPU lanes where it actually would matter for ultra low latency optane drives such as the P5809X. Instead of giving us 10G Ethernet, we only get 5G, which would be fine if I could actually consistently connect these intermittent ports so I could use a faster adapter Overall Review: A solid board if youre not trying to maximize connectivity, but intermittent connectivity issues that hopefully ASUS addresses with BIOS updates

Pros: Seems ROCK SOLID. While it’s a dedicated Flight Sim, still in the process of setting it all up for MSFS2020/24 and DCS WORLD. It has a FABULOUS BIOS setup in UEFI. Cons: I took a beating on the USB interface and continued stops at Code 98. Future users use basic KBM for initial setup. Once Windows was installed that went away. Had I been inexperienced installer, I would have been requesting RMA’s. Most likely my fault and not the fault of ASUS. Overall Review: Longtime ASUS user has all the confidence in the world that this will be the ULTIMATE setup For DREAM MACHINE 2025. Mated with AMD’s 9950X3D, 96GB GSkill DDR5 Cl28, 4TB Crucial T705, RyujinⅢ360MM AIO and last but not least, ASUS ASTRAL 5090 O32 GPU. Should make a helluva flight simulator on a 57 inch Samsung G9 NEO.

Pros: -Tons of features
-Probably the most OC centric board on the market
-Lots of high speed ports
-High frequency ram loads effortlessly Cons: -Board was unstable causing System crashes and GPU problems
-Came with some bent pends on a USB & HD Audio connector
-CPU does not perform as well versus cheaper x870 boards Overall Review: I purchased this board as an upgrade from my x870 Tomahawk. There was nothing wrong with that board, I just wanted to try my hand at some overclocking and this Apex board seemed to be the king for that. Unfortunately it was not stable even at stock factory default settings. I would get system crashes and GPU issues that I never had on the Tomahawk. Also using the same PBO settings as the Tomahawk, it scored lower. Also the HD Audio and 1 of the USB pins were bent. This might be something that will be addressed in a firmware update or perhaps I just got a bad board. But honestly it was unable to the point it could not be trusted.

Pros: It booted right up, the BIOs are easy to navigate, overclocking the memory was a breeze, much better than the Gigabyte board I was using Cons: It is expensive Overall Review: I would purchase it again
