You can print a free return shipping label. See Other thoughts. Cons: The clear plastic piece around the positive terminal was stuck on crooked. I had to unstick it and straighten it before I could plug in the wire. This was pretty easy. Overall Review: How to get a free return shipping label:
Included with the battery is a Battery Disposal Information paper with a link to a web site for battery disposal locations. Near the top of this website is a link to “how to create your prepaid return label for spent UPS batteries” which takes you to yet another page with another link and login information for a “UPS Returns on the Web” page where you create the label.
Symptoms that the old battery was dead:
-Being awoken in the middle of the night to a high pitched whine. It was difficult to pinpoint the source at first, but it was definitely the UPS.
-PowerChute software self-test failed to complete.

Pros: It’s a genuine APC replacement battery.
Newegg had the best price by far among reputable vendors. Cons: Still very expensive compared to knockoff brands. Overall Review: It’s a lead-acid chemistry battery, so while it’s nowhere as potentially dangerous as a Lithium-Ion chemistry battery, it’s a hefty battery and could cause significant damage if it were to burst. It’s worth it to pay extra for the piece of mind of a quality constructed battery. This battery is worth it.

Pros: R&R the original with the replacement with no problems. Cons: Unless the battery goes bad very soon there are no cons. Overall Review: No problems with removing the old battery and then installing the replacement battery. I glad APC has a procedure in place to let me return the old battery for recycling.

Pros: One out of the two batteries is still working. Cons: One battery is bad after being installed in a Back-UPS for just a month. Just long enough to where I can’t return it to NewEgg. Now I get to deal with the manufacturer warranty through APC. :-/ Overall Review: Before I started my current position the previous IT manager had installed all APC Back-UPS for every workstation. (approximately 15) Out of those 15 we have had 7 of the units themselves go bad and stop charging batteries. I understand that batteries go bad and need replacing….that’s fine. But when 7 of the units themselves stop charging and become nothing more than an overweight surge protector….
I’m slowly replacing all the APC units that go bad with CyberPower units.

Pros: Battery was dead in my APC UPS ES 550. I wanted to use APC original battery and found the best price at Newegg. Installation was quick and easy. It has been working great. Cons: Almost twice as expensive than non-APC alternatives. Overall Review: First I looked for cheaper alternatives but many people on the web have complained about terminal size mismatch, so I passed on those. If you need to recycle your old battery, ask your auto-shop, they usually do it.

Pros: Quality replacement battery for an APC UPS Cons: Not really a con of the product itself, just NewEggs packaging of it. I received 2 different APC battery cartridges in one box. The box was fine and the products did arrive intact. However they used the little “pillow” roll packing which the heavy battery packs popped quite easily. So on arrival there were 2 APC battery packs in APC boxes floating around inside a much larger NewEgg box along with all of the pillow roll packing flattened completely. Overall Review: Recommend the product YES, absolutely. However NewEgg needs to address the shipping of heavy items and what they use for packing material for heavy objects.
