Overall Review: Insane fps gain, some games +50%. Newegg delivered quickly. Very pleased

Pros: Hands down beats my Ryzen 9 7900X in gaming. What a drastic difference that i was not expecting at 4K.
Can reasonably actually air cool this without having to buy the most expensive air cooler on the market. Cons: Would’ve been nice if AMD had the proper AGESA update at launch and for motherboard manufacturers not to crank so much on the voltages. So that we don’t have these CPU’s literally exploding. What a mess. -1 egg, at the very least. Overall Review: Make sure to update your BIOS as soon as possible. Don’t want your motherboard to possibly destroy your brand new CPU.
Overall I am still happy with my purchase.

Pros: This CPU more than doubled my FPS compared to a 3900x in CP2077, both using a 3080, it feels much smoother as well, with no noticeable stutters. This CPU is a serious beast, and if my GPU ever gives out I have an integrated GPU as well so i can still use my PC whilst waiting for a replacement. Cons: None Overall Review: If you have the money I absolutely suggest buying this CPU, it’s really, really worth it.

Pros: Top performing CPU (for gaming) on the market as of writing this, trading blows with the significantly more expensive (and more often than not, beating) the i9 14900K.
All this while consuming roughly the same amount of power that my old i7 8700K did.
This means that it’s one of the most efficient CPU’s on the market, only really losing to the Threadripper 7980.
That’s not to mention you still have some room for undervolting, or overclocking.
Works incredibly well right out of the box, contrary to the 7950X3D, which, while it has technically more workstation performance for rendering and such, it has scheduling issues due to having more cores that need to be “parked” for activities (like games) that can only utilize 8 cores effectively. Cons: If you want the best workstation CPU, you’re better off with an Intel or the non-3D AMD CPU. This is the best for gaming, I’d say hands down, but it’s mostly just above-average at productivity.
If you want to overclock/undervolt, you’re going to have to play the silicon lottery, as with all chips nowadays. Overall Review: I have been incredibly satisfied with my 7800X3D. It worked right out of the box, blew away my old performance, and is generally non-fussy. I’m not a computer power user, so not having to tinker with Intel’s 14th-gen app to increase performance in a couple games, or having to tinker with curve optimizers to get a sufficient amount of performance, etc., is a big plus for me. AMD’s implementation of 3D V-cache was a massive win for them, and it shows with this generation, particularly with gaming. If you’ve been on team Blue for a while, I think this would be the best time ever to take the chance and try team Red.

Pros: What can I say that hasnt been said already? Im making the jump from an R7 3700X and a 5700XT, I THOUGHT the games were running smoothly, but after this CPU upgrade, and now combined with a discreet 7800XT I can say that I had no idea what it meant to run games, on high/ultra, with the smoothness in which they are seen in the videos of youtubers who do game reviews, I was overwhelmed that my computer was capable of running the games the way it currently runs them with this combo, more than happy! Cons: So far so good, so none Overall Review: The reviewers really didn’t miss to recommend this, if you want to play, then this is the right choice

Pros: Fast gaming performance. I paired with G-SKill Trident DDR5-6400 CL32. There’s a noticeable response performance in the operating system when launching browser, folders and apps on the AM5 platform coming from AM4 Zen3. Getting 250-350 FPS in Fortnite and 150+ in COD WZ with RTX-4070Ti. Cons: You should expect platform issues on multiple motherboards from multiple manufacturers. I was having USB issues, Bluetooth issues and even Bios was lagging with no explanation after latest bios update on MSI X670E gaming board. None are related to the chip but worth mentioning. Overall Review: Once I did a clean windows installation, turned off the board WiFi in Bios then found the the Bluetooth drivers which were separated by a user on the Asus forums, installed AMD display driver extracted from the AMD adrenaline installer my system was finally stable and operational and I’m able to enjoy this chip. I know this platform falls short on multitask performance but I barely do any task more than unzipping large files that I should really care… Time will tell if I should have opted for the 7950X3D or not.

  7. JC Denton

Pros: More fps in all games, 0 bottleneck, even surpasses all the most expensive AMD and Intel processors
It is enough for any task and not just for playing video games, rendering, video editing, etc. Cons: It is quite hot, I bought a liquid artic frezzer III and it keeps the high temperatures that this processor reaches cold when used in rendering tasks and heavy loads, in games it is not a problem. Overall Review: I was thinking about building an Intel platform and going for the 14900k, after the alarms of problems that I have been seeing for months with Intel processors and their errors in games, I decided to give AMD a chance and buy this Rzyen 7800x3D, I am very Happy with it since my games run smoothly and at maximum quality, more than 100 fps at 1440p, I recommend it 100% if you use the PC to play like me.

Pros: – Snappy and responsive: Seriously quick. Coming from my last processor, it was a night and day difference for sure in almost everything I do.
    – Power: This thing is so light on power. Under load, I barely see it peak over 100w, and BIOS PBO limits can bring that even lower.
    – Temperature: As said above, this thing is light on power, and also light on temperature. While testing on an air cooler, I was seeing high 70s during gaming and 90s in benchmarks. On my AIO watercooler, I rarely go over 85 in benchmarks and I sit at a cool 65c in gaming.
Platform: AM5. Brand new platform, and supports DDR5. This thing will last a while and be upgradable. Cons: – Overclocking: I am not too experienced with overclocking on AMD platforms, but there’s not much to gain in overclocking this chip in my experience. Undervolt it and go in my opinion.
    – Productivity: Obviously, this thing is not a dedicated workstation processor, but that’s not to say it isn’t great at productivity. It’s blazingly fast, but as you might expect, it can be outclassed by AMD’s own line of productivity-focused chips (7900X, 7950X, 7950X3D).
    – Stability & RAM Compatibility: It may take some time to find a stable PBO or undervolt in your case, depending on your silicon & motherboard. It took me a few days of troubleshooting to get mine stable at -20 negative allcore, but it’s now solid. I also made the rookie mistake of buying 6400MHz RAM since it was slightly cheaper at the time, and had to underclock down to 6000MHz as per the tips some people have talked about. If you do the same, make sure to follow a guide to correctly set your timings. Overall Review: Going into buying this, I knew this was a good processor, but having it on hand and playing games on it was something else. This thing is such a massive upgrade over my old 9700K, it blew my mind. It got rid of microstutters and instability I didn’t know I had, and frankly, getting used to it took a few weeks. Now that I have, it’s one of the most well-rounded processors I’ve ever used, and at the price that I got it, I’m extremely pleased.
As for performance, I’ve seen it hit 18.9k in Cinebench, and paired with a 6700XT (not the greatest pairing, I know) it kills 1440p gaming, easily hitting 144fps or more in virtually all of the games I play. It’s also a great MMO and competitive gaming processor, as CS2 runs smoother than butter, and games like WoW or FFXIV are also just as smooth even with lots of players, NPCs, and FX being rendered within my viewspace.
As for productivity, I don’t do anything heavy, but I do like to stream occasionally and make clips and shorts. This processor is noticeably quicker in almost all of these applications than my last processor, and honestly, if you’re mostly a gamer and do light productivity perhaps infrequently, there aren’t many processors on the market that would suit you better.
I’m extremely happy with this processor and plan to use it for at least 3-4 years, if not longer. It also facilitated a much-needed motherboard upgrade, and I’m looking at a well-upgradable PC on a solid platform for the next 5 years. It’s the wisest choice out there, in my opinion, for gamers, and is very commonly on sale – so if you can find it, get it.
