The 2025 upgraded R36MAX is hands down one of the best retro handheld consoles I’ve used—especially at this price point. With 18,000+ classic games built-in and support for multiple emulators, it’s like carrying an entire childhood in your pocket.
The 4.0″ 4K HD IPS screen is crisp, bright, and surprisingly immersive for such a compact device. Games look great and run smoothly across systems like NES, SNES, PS1, GBA, N64, and even some PSP titles.

Starters I have nothing but nice things to say about this console in general it runs pretty well as long as you are not trying to run harder to run games stay away from things like conkers bad fur day without putting custom firmware on it, yes it does come with pokemon games for those wondering yes it comes with standard mario list and other well known titles but in all honesty you should just wipe them all and upload your own stuff onto it, it makes a world of difference knowing the files you are playing, I put pokemon unbound, geometry dash and Pokemon glaze on it today and can’t put it down, if you are new to the hombrew community and what not this is a perfect console for you if you are just looking for something to buy and play what’s on it you may feel disappointed if you don’t know how to put games on it

This handheld game console is very nice. It is well made with very responsive buttons and easy to use the emulators. It has a large screen which really makes games pop and the built-in speakers are pretty good. Comes with a nice little case to hold the console and accessories.

I bought the game console and was really impressed with the quality the screen is sharp and the games run super smoothly. It came with thousands of classic games, and they all work perfectly without any lag. The grip is comfortable and the battery lasts for several hours even with continuous play. I took it on a trip and it was perfect to pass the time on the plane and at the hotel. The buttons respond well and the sound is surprisingly good for a handheld. The retro design with that funny heart and soccer ball button gives it extra charm. I found it very complete for the price, and you can even expand it with an SD card. If you love nostalgia and want to play anywhere, it’s totally worth it.

For the price point, the quality is great. The screen is crisp with plenty of buttons for various controls needed across the platforms. Right out of the box I selected the PSP version of Grand Theft Auto Vice City and it is perfectly playable. Battery was fully charged and the sound can get very loud. Many different older consoles emulated with all of the classic games.
