Pros: – Better than the USP-Plug, which has been notoriously unreliable and is reputed to die after a couple of years. (I can confirm that!) Cons: – Will only automatically reboot ONE Internet connection. There is no way to configure your backup modem (if you have one) to automatically reboot on a separate outlet.
– No way to control the other five outlets, other than navigating into the Unifi Network App and going through countless menus to find the outlet you want to switch.
– Requires Unifi Mesh capability to link up. Would be so much nicer if it simply had a wired Ethernet connection.
– Every time you update the Unifi Network S/W, this device will go offline! The only way to get it working again is the FORGET the device, do a H/W RESET on it, and RE-ADOPT / reconfigure it from scratch. Overall Review: The quirks of the Unifi USP Strip are well known. It’s not a great product but it’s essential if you want to have the ability to automatically or manually reboot your modem when your internet connection goes down. It’s no longer available directly from Ubiquiti so I was relieved to find it still available on Newegg. (The only current offering that does this from Unifi is about $400 (CDN) and is total overkill for most installations.)
