Pros: I use the drive for gaming (Emulation). I haven’t had any issues. I have it connected via USB 3.2 bay. Overall Review: Great price for the size of drive. I would recommend to all.

Pros: Speed even better than what Seagate is advertising in most used
Newegg RMA request is really quick to proceed. Cons: I totally understand that paying half the price for a 24TB compare to an Ironwolf Pro doesn’t come with a 5 years warranty but I do expect that at least I won’t get a DOA on my second order. The first one I ordered is fine but the second one wouldn’t even spin, making a weird noise. I’m waiting for the third drive hopefully this one will work fine. Same way the first one I received. Overall Review: For a 24TB 7200rpm with 512MB of cache, SATA drive, at that price with the overall speed you get, I doubt you can find anything cheaper out there. I just hope the overall quality of the product is not impacted by it. I totally understand it’s not for 24/7 used but getting a working drive when it’s brand new is a minimum…
Don’t expect SSD speed of course but getting over 200MB/sec on a single drive is impressive for a regular SATA drive.

Pros: Update: New drive works great; I have about 2OTB stored and filed away for safe keeping. back to 5 stars, fast replacement turnaround. Overall Review: I don’t know, drive is dead, we’ll see when the replacement comes.

Pros: Price, size. Cons: Basically a brick, disk manager recognizes the drive and capacity but will not initialize no mater what. Overall Review: Do not buy, bought for a friend birthday. Now too late to return by six days.

Pros: none – can’t use Overall Review: I ordered parts a little while before actually buiding my computer. After some weeks of progressively building and testing I was finally able to put in this HD, only to find out that it arrived completely broken and would not work and made a malfunctioning sound when I tried to use it.
So it was already too late for me to do a return because I did not build my pc till after the window expired. I am now in the process of doing a warranty but I have to go through many needless loopholes including providing a high level of packaging or the warranty will be void. Mind you I did not receive the product with even a fraction of the packaging and protections as is now required by Seagate. There was no original packaging or any protection aside from a thin layer of bubble rap, hence probably why it broke. This has never happened to me before as everything has always worked after purchasing, but this might be where your luck runs out. After checking the product it was clear there is a small lump on the top of it, hence the seller failed to securely package it, not I have to risk getting warranty rejected because of their failure. Add in the fact that I have to pay for expensive personal shipping and I can only get a refurbished drive back makes this a very regretful purchase.

Pros: Very well packaged by Newegg with triple bubble wrap. Unfortunately, a defective drive packaged and shipped very carefully is still a defective drive. Cons: Seems to be one of those defective Barracuda drives. I was able to format it but trying to transfer any files to it makes the drive disappear after 10-15 seconds. Overall Review: As happened to many here, the drive shows up and lets itself get formatted but trying to transfer any files to it makes it disappear completely. It comes back after 20 seconds and again, any attempt to transfer any files to it makes the drive disappear after only 10-15 seconds. Temperature never goes above 50C. Seatools long test stops after a couple minutes as the drive does not exist any more. “Seatools Test Failed”. Seagate has apparently stopped any kind of quality control with these Barracuda drives. It is pathetic.

Overall Review: HDD not working upon receive. Continuous beeping and need to arrange for return

  8. Andy C.

Pros: Great price of course Cons: Some trouble initially Overall Review: I purchased two of these drives the first one I plugged into the system floating to get it set up before fully installing and it worked fine recognize the drive got it formatted everything was looking great did a surface test on it with hard disk Sentinel passive flying colors plug in the second one got it formatted started the test and the drive would disappear I thought this for about a day until I switched my power plug and the problem seemed to go away so I rolled it out as a faulty power plug on my system and actually just replaced it but when I was reading reviews today I found a lot of people mentioning the same problem where you could format the drive get it going but the minute you started to use it it would disappear and that’s what was happening to me it was almost like my power was not getting a well enough connection so as soon as the drive really started to draw a load like when you start to read or write to it then there wasn’t enough power and the drive would reset. I am thinking this was totally a power cable problem especially after swapping the power cable seem to fix the problem but after reading the reviews I’m a little worried about the drive now. I’ve got it installed and and fully working order without any further problems. Maybe this drive is Just a Little More Voltage sensitive and that’s why the same thing was happening to other people I don’t know but I’ve only got a couple of days of usage on it with only the initial 20 or so terabytes written to it so I’ll keep you updated if I see any other failures but right now I think we’re okay
