Pros: I have 5 Dell 690’s that were all equipped with the FX3450’s. We recently upgraded the OS in these machines to Vista 64 so that we could run SolidWorks 2009 SP4.0 64bit. We experienced very bad video problems while working in SolidWorks. I tried every driver under the sun to fix the issue we were having with the FX3450’s but had absolutely no luck. I bought a FX 1800 and put it in one of these machines and the problem has completely gone away. With the card being able to handle a lot more and the power consumption a lot less things seem to be more stable with SolidWorks as well. We are now going to replace all of them with the FX1800. Cons: No Cons here.

Pros: Works very well. No fuss. No need for an external power source. Cons: Expensive

Pros: I have recently built two CAD stations and used this video card in each one, and I have to say that I’m quite happy with the performance. My overall configuration is Windows 7 64bit, with the OS and working CAD files on a 128GB OZ SSD, an i7 2.66GHZ processor, 12GB of RAM, and this video card. It handles the large assemblies like a dream.
As a side note for other CAD users, the i7 does a great job with rendering and simulation as well – I’m quite pleased with the speed. I’m running SolidWorks 2010, and it does seem to take advantage of the multi-core structure, though the general modeling does not seem to do so.
The card works great and I haven’t seen a single glitch on the screen like I’ve seen with some PNY workstation cards in the past. Cons: None from my perspective.

Pros: I am using this for an NLE video editing computer. I have yet to render anything, but the picture I get on my Acer 23″ LCD monitors through the DVI connectors is fantastic. I am well pleased so far. Cons: None Yet. Overall Review: I did talk to a tech at PNY about some questions I had and he did mention that if you hook up the SPDIF audio connector you may not get audio through the control port connectors.

Pros: Excellent, fast card for my needs. Cons: Workstation graphics cards always seem overpriced. Overall Review: It is the slowest component in my new system based around a i7-930. Win7Pro64 Windows Experience Index gives this a 6.7 with no overclocking but that’s plenty good for my GIS applications.

Pros: Great card for budget workstation graphics. I run 3 flat screens with this monitor no problems. (a 24″ widescreen flanked by 2 19″). Autocad drivers are great and I can have drawing and all toolbars and windows open. Also runs games well. Starcraft 2 and Left 4 dead run great. Cons: none.
