Pros: With the lack of reviews on units like these I was a little hesitant but there isn’t too much to complain about.
Came with 4 SATA cables with clips and enough screws to securely mount all my drives to the trays as well as to the case.
The fitment is very good, there is nothing rattling or shaking and the drives lock in securely.
There is a green light that lets you know when that particular tray is on whether there is a drive present or not. It flashes amber and green when there is any drive activity. Cons: Documentation was pretty bare. There is a little bit of space between all 4 edges of the unit and my case. Even on low the fan is a bit annoying. Overall Review: As always shipping was spectacular. Should have spent the little extra and gone with the 5 bay model but oh well.

Pros: Keeps the drives cool, especially the lower two drawers. convenient in case of drive failure; hot swap! Cons: I believe it is the backplane manufacturer that should provide the led jumper cables, not the raid card mfg…. Overall Review: works as advertised. the 4 bay obviously generates less heat than the 5 bay.

Pros: Sturdily built. Good tolerances. Plastic appears durable. Attractive. Has drive activity LEDs. Cons: Fan is louder than I care to have under my desk, even on low. It’s not terrible. But you will not be building a virtually silent PC with the stock fan. Documentation is chintzy — a single sheet of paper. Overall Review: The documentation issue doesn’t really bother me, other than it does not appear to be readily accessible online. I did, however, subtract an egg for the fan noise. Those of you building for a server room should not be deterred by this.

Pros: Sturdy. Easy to install. LED indicators for drive usage, power and fans. Power control of individual drives.
Locking SATA cables a big plus. Cons: Loud. But normal for a server room device. Overall Review: I bought this for my NAS box I run in my garage built out of old PC parts and a new cheapo computer case. Adding this cage improved the functionality immensely. I run RAID 1 with 2 500GB drives to store all our important data. I use a 3rd 500GB drive as a backup image of the array. I used to have to break open the case and swap out one of the drives in the array for the back drive and then let the array rebuild. Now I store all three drives in the cage and when I need to run a backup via my rebuild process I turn off one of the drives in the array and turn on the backup drive all through the power swithch/LED’s on the cage. The array then rebuilds the backup drive. I also now have LED indicators that show each drives’ activity. Before I had a single case led that simply showed drive activity but one never knew which drive was in use. The SATA cables that come with this are very nice too. No more drive cables coming loose.

Pros: cute
fits perfectly in my PC
I tested for a full night of intensive work with 4 disks RAID 5, and they didn’t come hot …they were in fact colder than where they were previously inside the PC…so well ventilated Cons: noisy fan, even in the low speed setting
I tried to change it, but my 80mm is thicker than the one they use
thy use a ~18mm thick
No vibration absorption, it would be nice if there was a rubber pad to isolate the drive’s vibration Overall Review: I ordered a second one for my other PC
versatile…
it will fit in all your future PCs casing
the same as for the AAA battery…it’s been there forever
the 5″ bay will be there for a long time

Pros: Sturdy aluminum design
Cools very well
Adjustable fan speed with jumper on back
Works with 8087 forward fan out cables if you have SAS cards and wish to use such. Cons: Noisy fan, even on lower speed setting Overall Review: I have several of these spread across a few chassis in a 42U cabinet. They do tend to get loud but they are in case that is rack mounted so out of sight, out of mind. Does its job well and works with all manor of drives I have tried with it.

Pros: This backplane\cage works very well. I use this in my home server, and am going to buy more for Christmas.
It holds 4 3.5inch drives in 3 5.25inch bays. Offers great cooling for the drives in a home server environment. Even in a standard server environment.
Individual power switch for each Hard Drive in case you don’t have a slot populated.
I have owned this device for nearly 8 months, and it has not once stopped working. It has survived several drives Cons: Plug placement could be much better. But not worth an egg off. The only reason I deducted an egg was because of the lack of detailed instructions. It does not specify whether or not you could use both molex, or sata power. But reading a bit on the internet found the information needed. Overall Review: Fan noise is not really an issue when you take into account what this device is intended for: For home server, or server environments. That being said, the fan noise is because this fan works WELL at cooling 4 drives in such a cramped space. To get that kind of cooling, you need a fan that can move enough air. So ignore what the other people say and don’t sacrifice cooling for quiet. There is a low fan setting that DOES still do a decent job at cooling.

Pros: Nice unit if it was not defective. Cons: Each bay has push buttons to toggle on/off. One of the buttons shipped busted and will not toggle. Not something noticeable until after it was hooked up. Sure this is a low bar manufacturer so shame on me, but it is still irritating to go thru the motions of getting it refunded, from taking my pc apart to shipping it back etc. Overall Review: Hook up the sata cables to the unit before sliding into the case for a less tedious installation.
