Pros: Gen4 speed, good cooling, decent price. Overall Review: If you don’t know how to setup RAID systems don’t blame the product. Read the manual before you buy so you know what is required for install and configuration.

Pros: Day 1, easy install & setup. 1+ year later & it still works great. Insane bandwidth on a 8TBx4 Raid 0 setup. Price was worth it. Cons: None. Overall Review: Excellent product.

Cons: – Unreliable product (failed after a year)
– Abysmal support (slow, painful, and not helpful) Overall Review: I was very happy with the product: I got four new SSD’s and this device to have a RAID10 config for my new system to have reliability (ha!) and speed. And it worked beautifully… for a year. And then it stopped working. One day instead of booting into the OS I started getting weird UEFI loop that would not even let me get past the “press F2 or DEL to enter setup”.
I’ve been in contact with the support for a month(!) now. Assuming you are in the USA, their responses are once a business day—they always respond at night. So, one message a day. At times they are helpful. At times their messages go “have you tried turning it off an on again?”. And I am still trying to salvage whatever I can, and my system is still not usable (after a month of ping-pong emails). In short: IMHP for such an investment (RAID Controller + NVMe drives) this is not worth the risk. Especially given that the big point of some RAID arrays (one that I had installed in particular) is to improve reliability. My old computer that I’ve had for more than 10 years is more robust than my new “reliably dead” system—at a fraction of the cost.
Update: now that we’re just shy of two months(!) of back-and-forth with the support, they finally(!) managed to reproduce the issue. And—guess what—their message is: “Our software testers have now reproduced your problem. It will take us a while to analyze your problem. Best Regards.” And that’s it!! I’ll keep on fighting. Fingers crossed, but folks, STAY AWAY FROM HighPoint products!!
