  1. Margaret O.

    Pros: Hot start capable
    Well built
    ventilated
screen goes into a sleep state when not actively going through settings. Cons: I haven’t found any yet, Possibly could be a bit smaller but seems they left the extra space mostly for ventilation to prevent overheating during loads
Screen, could do without it to be honest. I prefer not having a screen on the units as it keeps the few paranoid people that complain about everything from being concerned about stuff they shouldn’t be sticking their noses in. Overall Review: I bought this unit to replace and older APC smart-ups unit. That was about 10 years old. Since I will no longer buy APC ups’s due to constantly getting defective units from them. (we’re talking about server grade unit not the cheap ones). Eaton has become my trusted source for power conditioning and protection. This device is no exception to the rule. So far its tested well, recovered correctly during over power and under power sitations.
I use a large number of UPS’s like this onsite for user workstations for the reasoning that we have extremely bad power at most sites. Due in part to the proximity to heavy machinery for manufacturing. This tends to result in a lot of under voltage, over voltage and complete losses of power at times for the offices.

  2. ROGIER V.

Pros: The software provides good, very complete information, I like the detailed performance info and good event logs, so you know at all times what is going on. Strong native Linux support, great run time. This is the UPS to live by. Cons: I see very few cons here, you get some serious run time, and yes, you’re going to pay the price for that, but if that’s an issue you can always buy a lesser model. Overall Review: This unit replaced a best power 70Va unit that was getting long in the tooth, nice to see the same design quality in a more modern package, and it cost less now than the old one did when I got it in 2000.

Pros: Short story, it works! Purchased about a year ago. Couple of weeks ago, mains power bounced up and down 4 times in 60 seconds, then went out for good for a few hours. UPS seems to have about 20 minutes of power at a 250 watt draw, or thereabouts. When UPS battery got to 50%, I had it trigger shutdown of the CPU. That all triggered very nicely, got a clean shutdown, everything worked as expected. Yay!
BTW — this is with Linux, Debian Stable, using a USB cable between CPU and computer. On the UPS, I mostly left everything at factory defaults, so my app is simple, undemanding. Cons: None.

Pros: Its a nice looking UPS with great battery life. Cons: Note: this unit is very loud, I was surprised how much louder this is than any other small UPS I have ever used. I was expecting it to be totally silent to use in an open office area, but this fan is super irritating if you are working nearby it and it runs constantly. Probably ok for a server closet, but not in an open area. I was very disappointed and the fan never seemed to get quiet either. Seems like it should have been built a lot better. No where did it mention it had a fan. Overall Review: I would only buy this unit if you are putting it in a closed room, but I was disappointed with the ventilation on this unit compared to similar sized units by APC. I think it could have been built better than to have a fan running overtime on it.

  5. TIM K.

Pros: Works for cleaning the power supply. Cons: I unplugged this device to test how long an ink jet printer could run without an electrical connection. This UPS with no devices attached will consume the entire battery pack in less than 2 hours. It appears that the fan consumes more power than an ink jet printer or laptop computer. This seems self defeating. I cannot find a link to any software for showing power usage by time. Overall Review: If you want this as a power supply to run a small device during a power outage you have to keep in mind that the device consumes more power staying on than a ink jet printer or laptop ever would. With nothing connected you will be out of power in 2 hours.

Cons: Never got delivered. Overall Review: Terrible.

  7. Anonymous

Pros: We moved into an area with massive trees and all aerial power infrastructure. This unit has already responded dozens of times to power sags and intermittent outages from storms. Responds incredibly quickly, no issues on downstream devices whatsoever.
I over-provisioned which gives me plenty of runtime. Cons: Does have a fan which will engage under load, but is not very noisy Overall Review: Seems like a high quality unit, better warranty than APC units.
