Dark Rock Pro 5 features 7 high-performance copper heat pipes and a special black coating with ceramic particles. As a result, this high-end cooler keeps your CPU at peak performance at all times, even in heavily overclocked systems and demanding workstations.
2 Silent Wings 135mm PWM fans provide maximum airflow for unprecedented cooling. Although designed for performance, the fans are virtually inaudible at regular speeds. In Quiet Mode, the maximum noise is a mere 25.8dB(A). This is achieved with advanced fluid-dynamic bearings and smooth 6-pole fan motors.
The Speed Switch allows you to choose between 2 modes, each affecting the maximum fan speed and PWM curve.Â
Thanks to clever features, the installation concept is simple and elegant. The detachable mesh top cover with integrated middle fan is inserted from above. A completely black mounting kit with pre-installed mounting bridge and fixing screws matches the black design of the cooler perfectly.
Dark Rock coolers have been renowned for their distinctive design for many years. Dark Rock Pro 5 respectively follows this design and can be recognized as a Dark Rock immediately. Nonetheless, Dark Rock Pro 5 adds own accents to the rich history of be quiet! high-end coolers.
Thanks to a nickel-plated base, Dark Rock Pro 5 is compatible with liquid metal thermal grease such as DC2 Pro. The properties of liquid metal compound combined with Dark Rock Pro 5 allow high-end CPUs to perform at even higher levels.

Pros: This is supper easy to install AND BeQuiet even furnishes a magnetic Philips head screwdriver. Unlike its predecessor, the logo on the heatsink is made so that you don’t have to turn your head to read it once installed. Cons: The front fan sets too close to my RAM, Corsair Vengeance. So, I didn’t install the front fan, I use only the center fan. I’m using an I-7 8700K and the temps stay cool even when rendering 4K files with Adobe Media Encoder.

Pros: – Fantastic performance, keeps Ryzen 7 2700X at around 37c idle and around 60c load
– Allows the 2700X to hit the peak XFR2 numbers @ 4.3Ghz without any thermal throttling
– Super quiet (duh its in the name), but no for real its crazy how quiet it is
– Stock fans are some of the best fans in the industry, the fact that its bundled with this cooler make it a great value
– Just enough clearance over my G.Skill TridentZ ram sticks on my MSI X470 Gaming Carbon Pro
– The heatsink is massive, but I think that’s a plus, helps keep the temps down and fans spinning at lower RPMs
– Installation is quite easy if you plan ahead correctly (more on that in the ‘Other’ section)
– Top 1 or 2 air cooler in the market, neck and neck with its Austrian brethren (but this looks so much better!)
– Better performance than the majority of AIOs out there and on par with the best while being over $50 cheaper
– Not to kick off an air cooler vs. AIO CLC debate, but seriously this is one of the best choices out there due to its performance and 0 maintenance required
– Less important stuff; it looks super sleek and great inside the case with a window and its packaged and presented really well, nice attention to detail Cons: – The fan clips will chip away the black coating from the fins, but its just a minor visual annoyance rather than a performance related issue Overall Review: Installation Tip; make sure you plan your installation correctly ahead of time by taking out the motherboard out from its case. This heatsink is massive so installing it while your motherboard is in a case will make it much much more difficult. If you’ve seen any reviews online that say the installation is hard, its because you can tell that they were trying to install it within a case (especially evident in YouTube reviews). Technically speaking, their installations were in fact difficult, but that’s not the fault of the cooler. Nowadays the vast majority of air coolers and AIO CLCs can be installed without having to take the motherboard out. This is just a unique situation for this particular heatsink that needs a bit of planning. But once you do it outside of the case, it is in fact super easy. If be quiet! sees this review, I would like to suggest that they mention taking out the motherboard from its case as ‘advice’ in the instruction booklet.
Its great that they include the proper screwdriver to install the heatsink!

Pros: Nice looking for a CPU cooler.
Great cooling and virtually silent.
More compact than a Noctua NH-D15 and much better looking.
Significantly less expensive than a comparable performing AIO. Cons: The outer fan may interfere with tall RAM, but it can be moved higher on the heat sink to a certain extent. (Note, it clears my G.Skill Ripjaws V Ram without any adjustment). Overall Review: I have my Dark Rock Pro 4 on a Core i9-9900k overclocked to 5 GHz. It idles around 30-33 deg. C, and the hottest it reached during my normal activity was 63 deg. C. I am controlling the fans with my Asus Motherboard’s QFan control, and I cannot hear them.
The performance/noise ratio is probably on par with the Noctua NH-D15, though I believe the NH-D15 can spin the fans to a higher rpm to get a bit more cooling and, correspondingly, slightly more noise. But the Dark Rock Pro 4 is much better suited for a case with a clear side panel. I wouldn’t put the NH-D15 in a clear side paneled case with those ugly brown fans. In fact, recently I built a computer using a NH-D15 I had lying around, but the cost of just replacing the fans with black ones and adding the Chromax covers to make it look nice was almost as much as buying the entire Dark Rock Pro 4. Thus, the Dark Rock Pro 4 is a much better value if you care about the way the cooler will look in the case.

Pros: – Extremely quiet. Virtually inaudible under full load with my case’s side panel off. Completely inaudible once the case is closed.
– Installation is a breeze as long as you assemble everything with your motherboard outside the case.
– Has zero issues with my Ripjaws V RAM kit in terms of clearance.
– Keeps my overclocked Ryzen 7 2700X in the mid 20’s Celsius at idle, and comfortably under 60C under full load.
– Has the ability to run a 3rd fan for even more cooling potential. Cons: – Case compatibility can be tricky. Even in cases where the cooler is listed as compatible (by checking PC Part Picker), getting your motherboard into your case can be tricky, especially in cube style cases with horizontal motherboard trays.
– The documentation that comes with the cooler for installation is useless. Do yourself a huge favor and just go to BeQuiet’s YouTube page to see their installer guide video. Overall Review: If you plan on overclocking, and don’t want to use an AIO, this is about as good as it gets in terms of air cooling.

Pros: – Dropped my temps significantly vs stock Wraith cooler
– Very silent. Makes you wonder if fans are even spinning!
– Installation wasn’t bad. I was able to install this without removing mobo from my Corsair 275r case.
– Included hardware for my AM4 socket. Cons: – It’s big! But I anticipated this. Make sure you have proper clearance both in your case and RAM sticks.
– Tiny amount of included thermal compound. It may be adequate, but I used my own Arctic Silver 5. Overall Review: Highly recommend as replacement for AMD Ryzen 3000 series CPUs. I was on the fence about an AIO liquid cooler. Decided with stick with air cooler.
My 3900x temps dropped approximately 20c while gaming.
Dark Rock Pro 4 – Average 55c, brief spikes to 62c while gaming. Idle 35c.
Ryzen Stock Wraith cooler – Average 75c, brief spikes to 82c while gaming. Idle 45c.

Pros: Wasn’t as difficult to install as many reviews indicated. Overall Review: Great cpu cooler if your case is large enough to house it.It would not fit in most off the shelf computers, but if you have a decent sized case it will fit fine.
Good price for what you get.
Sits over my Trident Z Neo just fine.No adjustment needed.

Pros: Easy install, as easy as cracking a cold one with the boys
Quiet as a babies fart in a snow storm
As attractive as the one that got away
Will make your MB feel small, among other things. Cons: Not really seeing one. Overall Review: Big, sexy, life just feels better after installing this.

Pros: Works good keeps my 7800x3d around 70c in warzone 2. Overall Review: Def recommend easy to assemble and mount. 7800x3d reaches 84c in r23 and 70c while playing warzone 2.
