Pros: Recently I upgraded to this from an Nvidia Quadro 4500 and it works like a dream. Having two of these on SLI is overkill for pretty much what I do, which are effects and simulation work for Visual effects. It handles hardware renders and other various GPU intensive tasks flawlessly. I admit that I didn’t buy it, my company upgraded a few of our machines so it didn’t come out of my own pocket. However, if you can spare the money for it it’s worth it. Cons: None atm Overall Review: For what I do, GPUs aren’t really as important as processors, ram but most consumer graphics cards can’t handle some of the high end applications.
Current Rig @ work:
8x 1.9 Ghz Quad-Core AMD Barcelonas
64g ECC (registered) RAM
2x 15,000 RPM 300g SCSI raid (Seagate Cheetah)
1x ATI FireGL V8650 2gb
RedHat OS / Windows XP x64
This rig is used exclusively for programs such as Realflow and some propriatary simulation software. With the server mobos and hardware I haven’t had to worry about cooling. Since I use this machine at work it’s locked down so I can’t install anything on it. I’m sure it could handle games like a dream if given the chance. Still it’s designed for workstations and the money wouldn’t be well spent on a gaming rig.

Pros: This card will take any job you ask of it and exicute it with flying colors. Single GPU coded tasks run wonderfully on this card, but there are very few applications that see any advantage from using more than one of these cards. See Cons… Cons: One of my business partners purchased 3 of these to operate in Crossfire. First we tried all three of them and ended up getting about a fifth of the speed that the single card was getting in his other workstations. We tried using only 2 cards, rolling the drivers back, and even tried a new motherboard but still we saw severe performance drops from using multiple cards. Still this card outperforms any other workstation graphical solution on the market in production enviroments. Others ocasionally perform better in test and look better on paper, but I have seen this thing pull through ahead of all of the competion. Overall Review: Im sorry if this isnt the most professional decision on my part, but to the other reviewer…. stop lieing. Your entire review is completely fabricated. I dont even need to point out how flawed the entire thing is. Please find somthing better to do than broadcast falsified information.

Pros: This card kills render times! We just recently upgraded two of our machines, and I can’t even believe how fast this thing can finish job’s that would’ve taken our older machines at least twice the time. Cons: It’s not nVidia.
The only REAL problem with this thing is gameplay. Most people think of workstations as a ‘work-only’ computer, but when you are self-employed by your own partnership, it’s fun to just sit back and enjoy a game.
Well, while when you look at the specs, it seems like cards like these would dominate games, but really, it’s not for much more then work purposes. Overall Review: I don’t even think I’d ever have to crossfire this beast.

Pros: First of all, I bought 2 of these for the engineers who I work with. The rig’s are both rendering 3d models for a major automotive industry manufacture. They mostly render very very very large models which require massive details and calculations to the nearest nano-meter. They are using programs like Solidworks and Autocad 3d. One guy also has been using Blender, which…. I don’t personally like but that’s ok. Not my job to like those applications. I’m just the IT guy.
Specs….
Skulltrail Mobo, 8 gigs Mem, 2 xenon X5365. 4x 1tb hdd’s nicely cooled in a Coolermaster Stacker, 1200w Power cooling PSU + sony Blu-Ray DVD burner. Running XP64, Vista Ultimate 64 & Ubuntu 64bit. Cons: Not a huge con, but I found these cheaper Direct from the Mfg. due to our affiliation in the auto industry. Also a few wierd issues in Ubuntu, but nothing to cause any major complaints about. Mostly working in Vista and xp64bit Overall Review: Hey, for anyone who has half a brain…. If your going to spend 2100 dollars on a video card and you THINK you can game on it….. think again! Better yet, do us all a huge favor, take your computer send it to the goodwill, give me all your money and then throw yourself in front of a semi-truck.
>>>>YOU CAN NOT GAME ON WORKSTATION VIDEO CARDS!<<<<
They are not designed to run sprites quickly as a gaming card can. And word to the technically challenged folks out there, you know the ones who think they know about computers, but really don't cus they are moronic enough to buy 2 of these…. you can not render 3d models through SLI or Crossfire. Most applications which does 3d model rendering doesn't utilize this technology. SLI and Crossfire is perfect for gaming, since your throwing a ton of sprites at your screen and it needs to be handled that way, But not 3d rendering.
