Pros: 4k read Cons: sequential read Overall Review: need more discounts

Pros: – Ideal for workloads which require near deterministic performance with low latency
– Extremely high endurance
– Can run many VMs off the drive simultaneously
– Truly like no other type of storage Cons: – High cost
– Runs hot
– Capped at PCIe 3.0 bandwidth but presumably could exceed this
– Low capacity Overall Review: I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants extremely reliable, high-endurance storage with requirement for low latency or many concurrent workloads. If you require large capacity, low cost, or high power efficiency, look elsewhere.

Pros: Good balance of speed in all scenarios. The reduced latency and generous iops can easily stand out if your workload takes advantage of those characteristics. Optane is different than traditional nand based SSD because it addresses single cells instead of whole blocks. That’s the special sauce! The cool thing about optane is that it’s built to last and the performance really doesn’t dip or change. Cons: Pricing has typically put it out of reach for consumers. Overall Review: At $400 or less the 960gb sku is a compelling product.

Pros: I’m a software developer and business owner. I regularly will have 4+ instances of chrome open along with hundreds of tabs, programs that need to run on boot, and a bunch of other garbage. It used to take my HP EX920 (A decent m.2 nvme drive) forever to get through a restart. Occasional hangs with my NVME SSD pinned at 100%. At first I thought it was something wrong with my windows install. But after a lot of digging, I couldn’t find anything.
Eventually I popped in this bad boy. Life-changing. Everything is so snappy. If I do a restart. I can reload all of my chrome tabs and they just blitz into existence (all 200+) and load up instantly, while all my backgrounds programs load in. And during this time there isn’t a moment of unresponsiveness if I choose to open another program, search my start bar, or anything else I want to do.
For a power user who has many things running simultaneously, Optane is the way to go. It’s as big of a jump as HDD > SSD was. No it doesn’t matter for games, SSDs are great for almost every situation. But if you have lots of things going on all at the same time (high random read I/O), they can easily suffocate even the best SSDs, and in that regard this is a game0changer. Cons: The m.2 adapter feels really delicate. Overall Review: 100% recommend for anyone running many things simultaneously.

Pros: Fast, wow how responsive. Cons: One of the item’s photos shows this drive in a retail box. The box item includes the M.2 adapter and a cable, so you can use the PCIe lanes from one of your M.2 slots. However, what I received was an OEM blister pack containing a drive, nothing else. I’m going to have to buy the missing pieces. Overall Review: Good item, as long as the buyer understands they will need to purchase either a PCIe card or a M.2 adapter and cable separately.

Pros: This drive is unusually speedy, transferring a large folder containing many files (like a game install folder) at about 130GB. It took less than half an hour to do so, compared to the same folder to a usb drive. Mine came with the adapter in the photo, but i had to buy a separate cable to connect to mini SAS. Overall Review: If the unit fits your need, then you should consider buying it.

Pros: – It works as advertised; high speed, low random read latency. Cons: – Package contents incomplete
– Drive may not be brand new, as advertised Overall Review: This is the 2nd Intel 905P Drive (U.2 version) I purchased from NewEgg, with the first one purchased in 2023.
Unlike the first drive that came in its original packaging plus the manual, cables and accessories, this latest purchase comprised only the drive in a plastic wrapping and bubble wrap. There were fingerprints on the plastic and signs of very minor wear/usage at the drive’s connector (the gold bits), which means the drive is NOT brand new.
While the drive seems to be working perfectly, I am disappointed and upset by the apparent false advertising/incomplete product. NewEgg and/or Intel have some explaining to do.

Cons: I have not tested my drive out yet, because the package did not include the M.2 to U.2 adapter which is included in the retail packaging.
Newegg does not indicate that this arrives in OEM packaging, despite including an image of retail packaging. Very disappointing. Overall Review: Be aware that you will not receive accessories which you may require to use the drive in your system.
