Pros: I decided to search for a Tripp Lite product after having noticed that many businesses use this brand and figured they were probably built better and were actually tested to meet certain standards and would have to endure a much tougher environment than someones living room. The ISOBAR6ULTRA has a metal housing, is rated for a much higher surge than most retail suppressors and also has EMI/noise filtering.
Additionally it has isolated filter banks which means that devices plugged into different outlets are isolated from one another so if one device has an interference, noise or power problem it will not affect the other devices plugged into the surge suppressor. Icing on the cake is a Protection Light which ensures that all filtering components are still functioning and a lifetime replacement warranty. I was looking for a better surge suppressor than the cheap plastic suppressors with equally cheap electronics inside available in big box retail stores. This is it. Cons: Not typically found in retail stores Overall Review: Wish more people knew about it. Isolated Power/Noise Filtering is definitely what sold me. Waaay better than what one normally finds in retail stores.

Pros: I recently moved into a new construction house, Dec 2010. Upon moving in, my treadmill began to trip the 15 amp circuit breaker. It previously had no issues and 15 amp was the requirement. I had even tried it in a 20 amp dedicated outlet. Come to find out, new North Carolina regualtions require the quick trip circuit breakers in new construction.
This surge suppressor fixed the problem. I can use the treadmill (it is an upper model Sole treadmill so the amps spike on start up) in every mode, incline and speed and it has yet to trip the breaker again.
There were several types that claimed to solve the problem, most were more expensive. This is the only one I tried but with 4 outlets and no more problem I highly recommend it. Cons: None

Pros: Unit works and still consists of the same rock solid construction as ever. Just gives such a sense of security (that, and I’ve never had one fail on me – and even if I did, it’s a lifetime warranty). Cons: Compared to other options (which are otherwise inferior, admittedly) it’s spendy. Overall Review: I won’t say that you can’t kill one of these units, or even that I am employing them in an environment where it’s likely (home office) but I’ve never had a lick of an issue with one and I have some that are probably ~20 years old.

Pros: Have been using Isobar metal surge suppressors along with other supressor designs (non-MOV) for over 15 years. I have seen the Isobars in action. A friend’s house was hooked up ‘incorrectly’ at the pole, and everything electric in the house was destroyed, including the refrigerator and stove. That was no everyday “surge”; it was a voltage onslaught. The surviving equipment: stereo rack, which was hooked to the isobar. The isobar was a charred crisp inside. Stereo rack components: all in perfect condition. Cons: Quite expensive vs the ‘cheap’ brands (which do practically nothing for many common spike conditions), but on the other hand, a much better value than some name-brand-premium stuff on the shelf for much higher prices. Overall Review: Metal is a big plus in case of internal heat/fire issues when the “spark hits the fan.” However since metal is conductive some may see that as a negative vs plastic models. However it is built solidly and unlikely as a shock risk unless it is severely damaged or improperly disassembled/assembled.
suppressors are supposed to be replaced every so often as the suppression parts absorb the periodic voltage spikes and get weaker. Not sure how often, I do 5-7 years and relegate the older ones to non-essential equipment (ex: a glorified plug-in strip. Which probably still works quite well as a suppressor for clock radios and lights, etc.)

Pros: Just had our first really bad power spike of the season a week or so ago, the smell of ozone – sitting in the dark then everything came back on [Including my new just built PC!!] nothing damaged nothing on fire! Have to say – I Am Impressed! My old PC exploded during a lightning strike just left a hole where the PSU was couldn’t even re-use the case. These spikes always ruined something on my PC in the past if I left it plugged in – not this time!!! This device is a life saver!!! Cons: The price – but when you think about it…. Overall Review: Its about need, if you live in an area with stable power and never has a issue – this device would not be needed – get something cheaper but if you don’t – even if it fails, Tripp Lite will basically pay you for the damaged items if their suppressor fails – hard to beat in my situation..

Pros: Great suppression specs, excellent RF filtering. Cons: The cable is very long, and there is not shorter option. Although if I wasn’t so lazy, I would just shorten it myself. Overall Review: I bought this for the impressive-looking surge suppression specifications. I didn’t pay much mind to the power filtering advertised – most consumer grade power filters I have run into are useless. After I plugged my rig into this, the output from my desktop to stereo unit is SILENT (had major hiss at maximum volume previously). Wasn’t expecting this.

Pros: Solid Construction
Movable long main plug (with right angle)
Status Lights that mean something! Cons: Plugs face same direction on both sides of the strip. So if you do not use pigtail adapters for ac/dc converters then you can lose space (but if you are serious about anything you should have pigtails!)
The solid construction takes up a lot of space! I mounted it on the back of my desk to ensure that no moving cables etc had the possibility of switching the strip off. Overall Review: After seeing a couple articles on surge protectors, and my APC UPS finally failing and relying on a cheap belkin surge protector from Target.
I decided that this device will last a lifetime and has lots of perks that I like.
Having a noise filter as well as a high joule rating means you should not have to worry about your components.

Pros: This thing is built like a brick. It has wonderfully built insides and its alot better than your run of the mill cheapo surge protectors. This actually protects your stuff and I run a 3000$ gaming PC off of it. It doesnt have any issues whatsoever, Its nice, heavy, and sturdy and you can tell it will last a long time. Cons: None Overall Review: BUY THIS BRAND!
