Pros: Nicely made, quiet and works well Cons: It was a very tight fit in the 5.25″ bay.

Pros: All machined aluminum construction, dual fans, very nice looking. Full speed 6 GB/sec transfer rates perfect for RAID SSDs. Cons: Fans are quiet but not silent. Sliding the drive trays back into the unit can sometimes be tricky. It is easy to accidentally miss engaging the rails on one side. The key is to not “force” a drive in if it puts up resistance as it is likely not on both rails. Overall Review: These are great cages. I have four of them for a large scale SSD raid.

Pros: See other thoughts Cons: See other thoughts Overall Review: I made a mistake about the price of the hot swop racks. I order two and with shipping it came to around $23. So a bay runs around $9. Sorry about the mistake.

Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing Overall Review: It works perfectly. It looks so damm good that I had problems installing it inside the case and really wanted to leave it exposed near my computer. Yep, it’s that good. Only 1 power cable is needed and it is fantastic. Build quality and materials are top shelf. Money well spent. Thank you iStarUSA for releasing such an amazing product!

Pros: Attractive design. Looks great mounted in full tower case, mounts flush and fits nicely.
Quality craftsmanship. Removable trays feature a precision cut aluminum mounting plate and well crafted aluminum hinge to remove/insert drives.
Reliable performance. In daily use for several months, populated by a mix of 256GB SSD’s and 500GB 7200rpm laptop drives (decommissioned from Qosmio for upgrade).
Only one SATA power plug is required to power this unit. Cons: Sliding rail was a tiny bit stiff as new, however if drive is removed and inserted several times it will graduate to an easy insertion. Dust tends to accumulate over breathing holes over time. In a case with negative pressure environment this area will force air in and likely collect dust. This is easily remedied by removing drive and dusting it off with a soft cloth or compressed air. Overall Review: This has been a reliable performer for several months. Pretty much rock steady and complements this item also purchased from Newegg –> SYBA SI-PEX40057 PCI-Express 2.0 x2 Low Profile SATA III (6.0Gb/s) 4-ports RAID Card. Depending on your choice of case be sure that you use SATA3 compliant cables (as many people tend to recycle cables from previous machines that may not support full speed of SATA3) and that they are long enough to stretch/reach the device. I purchased 18″ SATA3 cables separately for this reason and was able to conceal them through case hole routing for a sharp build appearance.

Pros: High-quality aluminum construction. Have enclosed three SSD’s and a HDD–all working well. Throughput as advertised. The two small fans at the back are silent. I must correct myself from my earlier review. Cons: You must be a little careful installing the drives lest you mess up, which means that rapid changes will be unlikely. Not a big deal, just watch what you’re doing. Overall Review: I have a Corsair Air 540 case and, besides the two GPU-side 3.5” hot swap bays, the “four 2.5” tool-free SSD drive cages,” actually a hard-to-position plastic cube sitting above the power supply, make drive changes a pain. So I waited for this to become a shell shocker again to purchase. Looking in, out and all around, the construction of this box is excellent, beyond expectations. If you read the instructions, the LED lights are well explained, and if you are careful the installation of the cage and the drives is routine. It has an “on-off” switch for the LED’s, which doesn’t actually switch off the LED’s, but merely causes them to not blink.
Tremendously useful for access to four 2 1/2″ drives in the small space. The blinking links are very useful at the front of your case because you can see exactly which drives are being accessed. Just great. Each powered drive gets a solid green light, and if there is activity in any drive the red led next to it lights up. This is worth the full regular price, let alone anything less. Kudos to the company.

Pros: This is a very nice unit. Well made and works perfectly in my case. It only takes one 5 1/4 case slot and works quite well. Just make sure that you use the provided screws to install the unit as standard case screws are too long and will prohibit the bays from being able to eject. If you get a RAID card just understand that the only motherboard that that worked properly with my Adaptec SAS boards was an Asus board. MSI and Asrock boards will not work with the Adaptec RAID cards.
NOTE: If one of your drives is not recognized it may not be the iStar unit. I had a problem with drives not getting recognized and it was the cable and not the iStar. So, if you have an issue like this then check your cable with a new on and your drives on another system. I installed a new cable and my problem went away. Cons: No cons!!! Overall Review: Excellent unit!
